Who is John Allin?

Globally recognized as the foremost snow and ice industry consultant, John Allin has spent over 35 years developing and testing snow management strategies in one of the most intense, lake-effect, snow-belt regions in the world: the south shores of one of North America's Great Lakes, Lake Erie. As the cold Arctic and Canadian air whips across the lake, a snowmaking machine kicks in, stretching from the shores of Ohio, Pennsylvania, and into New York, dumping 150-300" of snow each season.  John saw this area as the perfect proving ground to bring snow and ice management into the modern age. With only one truck, and one plow, he began his entrepreneurship with Allin companies. After 20 years, he began Snow Management Group, which, in 2002, won the plowing contract for the Winter Olympic Games in Salt Lake City, Utah.

John is North America's top snow industry consultant, an innovator of snow management strategies, the industry's leading snow management expert, and an expert witness for slip and fall lawsuits, among other titles.

Why is John Allin Involved in SN9001?

As the leading national snow and ice management consulting firm in North America, John Allin Consulting assists contractors around the country in streamlining snow operations, increasing margins and growing revenues.  They also assist facilities and property managers in writing specifications and snow response plans (SRP) that are fair to both the site manager and the contractor.  John Allin served on the Team that wrote the ANSI-ASCA A1000-2014 Written Snow Industry Standards.  It was only natural that the firm would also help its clients to prepare for ISO’s SN9001 certification.

Why Use John Allin Consulting During the ISO Process?

Tammy Johnson, MBA, CAE (formerly Executive Director of Snowfighters Institute) has assumed oversight of the Pre-Audit Gap Assessment & Internal Audit services for those contractors who seek to become certified by ISO in the area of snow and ice management.  As a consulting firm, John Allin Consulting can identify gaps in the documentation and process development required to pass an ISO 9001 and SN 9001 Audit.  Additionally, John Allin Consulting can then help the snow contractor to fill in those gaps with the required documentation process needed.  An ISO Auditing Body can identify such gaps, but cannot assist the contractor in filling those gaps as it would be a conflict to the auditing process.
